Jacob is believed to have married Unknown (?) between 1870 and 1879.6 Jacob married Artemissie Wilson on 8 March 1887 at South Carolina.7

Also enumerated in his household were Lillie G. Freeman, Alice J. Freeman, Mary M. Freeman, Dora Freeman, Bertha Freeman and James H. Freeman.11

James Freeman was enumerated on the agriculture schedule of 29 August 1850 at Richland District, South Carolina, as "James Freeman", the owner, agent or manager of a farm. His farm consisted of 10 acres of improved land and 65 acres of unimproved land, with a cash value of $75. He owned farm implements and tools valued at $15. He had 1 horse, 4 milch (sic) cows, 11 other cattle and 13 swine, all valued at $275.
