James served in the military as a Confederate soldier at Missouri.9

James purchased 120 acres east of Hallsville at Boone County, Missouri, from W. K. Sturgeon on 10 September 1875.10

His obituary appeared on 13 May 1912 in the newspaper "The Columbia Daily Tribune" at Boone County, Missouri. Mary Olivia Sturgeon were named as survivors.10

     James Turner Sr. was born on 21 November 1755 at Rowan County, North Carolina.3,4 He was the son of Thomas Turner and Catherine Smith.2 James married Jemima Wells circa 1775 at Rowan County, North Carolina.5 James died on 10 September 1834 at age 78 years, 9 months and 20 days at Boone County, Missouri.6 He was buried at Boone County, Missouri.7
     

James Turner Sr. signed the marriage bond of Enoch Turner as surety on 18 December 1811.8

James Turner Sr. was named as an heir in the will of Thomas Turner on 18 May 1815 at Madison County, Kentucky.9

James moved to Boone County, Missouri from Kentucky in 1817. His farm was near Hallsville.10

James Turner Sr. died intestate, and letters of administration were requested by Enoch Turner and Jemima Brown for the estate of James on 13 September 1834 at Boone County, Missouri. Full settlement was made on February 10, 1838.11

     James William Turner was born circa 1847 at Missouri.2,3 He was the son of Ephraim Turner and Angeline R. Turner.2,3 James William married first Julia Etta Upham on 5 October 1873 at Albany, Linn County, Oregon.4 James William married second Sarah Frances Charlton after 1876 at Albany, Linn County, Oregon.1 James died on 6 January 1913.1
     

James was widowed on 22 September 1876 when his wife, Julia, died at Albany, Linn County, Oregon.1

     Jane Turner was born on 3 March 1816.1 She was the daughter of James Turner and Elizabeth Rupe.1 Jane married James W. A. Patterson on 6 January 1836.1 Jane died on 17 December 1902 at age 86 years, 9 months and 14 days.2
