Burkey, daughter of Andrew Burkey and Sarah A. Smith, on 23 November 1888 at Audrain County, Missouri. The couple was married by the Rev. P. T. Ess was born on 28 November 1817 at Framersheim.3,4 John W. married Margaret Burkey, daughter of Peter Burkey and Barbara Wick.5,6,7,8 John died on 9 April 1898 at age 80 years, 4 months and 12 days at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.9 He was buried on 11 April 1898 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.4,3

John was widowed 21 July 1892 at the age of 74, when his wife Margaret died at Audrain County, Missouri.11

His obituary appeared on 14 April 1898 in the newspaper the "Mexico Weekly Intelligencer" at Audrain County, Missouri.4 His obituary also appeared on 21 April 1898 in the newspaper the "Mexico Ledger" at Audrain County, Missouri.
