     George Adams Ess was born in 1835 at Germany.3,5 He was the son of Henry Ess and Catharine Schnider.3,4 George Adams married Barbara E. Hoffman on 7 September 1886 at Audrain County, Missouri. The couple was married by the Rev. P. T. Gentry.6,7 George died in 1899 at age 64 years at Missouri of a stroke which left him ill for several years.5,8 He was buried at Macedonia Cemetery in Audrain County, Missouri.5
     

The eighth United States census was taken in 1860. George was enumerated as "George Ess", in the household of Catharine Ess at Middle Grove, Monroe County, Missouri. His given age was 24 and his given place of birth was Germany. He was a farm hand.3

     Henry Ess was born circa 1806 at Germany.2 Henry married Catherine Fall on 11 June 1839 at Saline County, Missouri.3 Henry died on 15 February 1853 at Missouri.4 He was buried at Macedonia Cemetery in Audrain County, Missouri.4
