Solomon Cox was born on 17 May 1788 at Deep River, Orange County, North Carolina.1 He was the son of Enoch Cox and Mary Mackey.1 Solomon married Deborah Collins on 27 October 1809 at Grayson County, Virginia, in a ceremony performed by Rev. George Keith.2 Solomon died on 25 November 1849 at age 61 years, 6 months and 8 days at Gilroy, Santa Clara County, California.3
Solomon moved to Dover, Lillard County (now Lafayette County), Missouri from Grayson County, Virginia in 1817.4

Solomon made a will on 24 April 1849 at Lafayette County, Missouri. George B. Warren and J. L. Warren witnessed the will. Charles F. Ustick was the executor, and Jesse Cole and Henry Cole were Secs. His heirs were his wife Deborah Cox, and mention was made of 10 children now living, including "our youngest children, Mary, William, Lewis and Robert, Charlotte Cox, widow of late son Elias Cox, grandchildren, John W. Cox and Henry Cox."8
Solomon went to Santa Clara, California at the time of the gold rush in 1849. He died there later that year.3
