     Julia A. Cox was born on 24 June 1855 at South Carolina.6,4 She was the daughter of John A. J. Cox and Loduskey Elvira (?).4,5 Julia A. married Silas F. Freeman, son of Levi Freeman and Amy (?), circa 1876 at South Carolina.7,8 Julia died on 19 February 1914 at age 58 years, 7 months and 26 days at South Carolina.6 She was buried at Brown's Chapel Cemetery in Richland County, South Carolina.6

The ninth United States census was taken in 1870. Julia was enumerated as "J. A. Cox", in the household of John A. J. Cox at Hopewell Township, Anderson County, South Carolina. Her given age was 15 and her given place of birth was South Carolina.5

The tenth United States census was taken in 1880. Julia was enumerated in the household of Silas F. Freeman as his wife, "Teressa Smith", at Hopewell Township, Anderson County, South Carolina. Her given age was 24 and her given place of birth was South Carolina. [The census taker incorrectly copied the names of another couple a few lines down on the page for Silas and his wife. The children's given names and birth dates are same as Silas' children. Silas is on the Anderson Tax lists for 1878, 1880 and 1881, and there is only one Jerry and Teresa Smith in Anderson in those years].9

The twelfth United States census was taken in 1900. Julia was enumerated in the household of Silas F. Freeman as his wife, "Julia Freeman", at Rock Mills, Anderson County, South Carolina. Her given age was 45, and she was said to have been born in South Carolina in June 1854. She had been married for 24 years, and had given birth to eight children, six of whom were living.7

Julia and Silas F. Freeman moved to Richland County, South Carolina from Anderson County, South Carolina between 1901 and 1910.7,8

The thirteenth United States census was taken in 1910. Julia was enumerated in the household of Silas F. Freeman as his wife, "Julia Freeman", at Center Township, Richland County, South Carolina. Her given age was 53 and her given place of birth was South Carolina. She had been married for 34 years, and she was the mother of eight children, six of whom were living. She was not able to read or write.8
