  10. [S643] . Evidence that John A. J. Cox is the son of Asa Cox: 1) John named one of his sons Asa. 2) 3) John had no real estate listed on the 1850 U. S. Census for Anderson County. In 1860 he was living next door to Asa and had real estate valued at $100. Presumably, he was given some of his father's land. 3) In 1830, Asa Cox's household had 1 male under 5 and 2 males under 10. This would be consistent with John being the youngest, and James and an unknown brother being the older. 4) In 1830, there were 5 heads of household in Anderson District surnamed Cox with males under 5 in their household: Asa, Levi, Edward, William and James. Only Asa is both still in Anderson in 1840, and has a daughter the age of Mary (May) who is living with John A. J. in 1880 as his unmarried sister.
