Margaret Burkey was born on 14 January 1834 at Germany.4 She was the daughter of Peter Burkey and Mary Magdaline Sipp.4,5 Conflicting evidence places her birth on 14 January 1835 at Germany.6,7 Margaret married Peter Burkey, son of Peter Burkey and Barbara Wick, on 13 March 1857 at Audrain County, Missouri, in a ceremony performed by Reverend Benjamin Owings.8 Margaret died on 31 December 1916 at age 82 years, 11 months and 17 days at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.4,6 (Click on the icon to see the death certificate image.).

Tribble and John Ess, appearing before me and being duly sworn testified due form of law to the execution of said will, (Illegible)...were then granted to the said Andrew Burkey as executor of the last will of Peter Burkey as aforesaid upon his entering into Bond as the law directs. Attest M. T. Duncan, clerk."6

Peter made a will on 17 November 1859 at Audrain County, Missouri, in which he left property to Jacob Burkey, Margaret Burkey, Catherine Miller, Peter Burkey, Andrew Burkey, Magdaline Burkey, Anthony Burkey and Sibella Engle.5
The estate of Peter Burkey was admitted for probate on 8 March 1860 at Audrain County Court, Audrain County, Missouri. Following is a transcription of the record of probate by the Audrain County Court. "This day came Andrew Burkey and presented for probate an instrument purporting to be the last will and testament of Peter Burkey and the subscribing witness thereto George W. Tribble and John Ess, appearing before me and being duly sworn testified due form of law to the execution of said will, (Illegible)...were then granted to the said Andrew Burkey as executor of the last will of Peter Burkey as aforesaid upon his entering into Bond as the law directs. Attest M. T. Duncan, clerk."6
