     Margaret Burkey was born on 14 January 1834 at Germany.4 She was the daughter of Peter Burkey and Mary Magdaline Sipp.4,5 Conflicting evidence places her birth on 14 January 1835 at Germany.6,7 Margaret married Peter Burkey, son of Peter Burkey and Barbara Wick, on 13 March 1857 at Audrain County, Missouri, in a ceremony performed by Reverend Benjamin Owings.8 Margaret died on 31 December 1916 at age 82 years, 11 months and 17 days at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.4,6 (Click on the icon to see the death certificate image.). She was buried on 2 January 1917 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.4,6

The twelfth United States census was taken in 1900. Margaret was enumerated in the household of Peter Burkey as his wife, "Margert Burkey", at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri. Her given age was 65, and she was said to have been born in Germany in January 1835. She had been married for 43 years, and she was the mother of eight children, five of whom were living.9

Margaret was widowed 4 April 1902 at the age of 68, when her husband Peter Burkey died at Audrain County, Missouri.10

The thirteenth United States census was taken in 1910. Margaret was enumerated as "Margaret Burkey", head of a household at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri. Her given age was 75 and her given place of birth was Germany. She was a widow, and the mother of eight children, six of whom were living. The year she was said to have immigrated to the United States appears to be written as 1855. Her occupation was recorded as "own income", and she lived on a farm which she owned. Ess.7,8,9,10 Margaret died on 21 July 1892 at age 72 years, 4 months and 3 days at Audrain County, Missouri.5 She was buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.5

Her given age was 13 and her given place of birth was Missouri. She and her sisters were incorrectly listed as the daughters of her grandfather, Peter Burkey.7

The twelfth United States census was taken in 1900. Mary was enumerated in the household of John Thomas Young as his wife, "Lena Young", at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri. Her given age was 31, and she was said to have been born in Missouri in July 1869. She had been married for 7 years, and she had two children, both of whom were living.3

     Peter Burkey was born circa 1807 at Germany.1,2 Peter married Mary Magdaline Sipp.1 Peter died on 18 January 1882 at Audrain County, Missouri.3 He was buried at Burkey-Everhart-Hoffman Cemetery in Audrain County, Missouri.3

     Peter Burkey was born on 26 June 1825 at Germany.6,7 He was the son of Peter Burkey and Barbara Wick.4,5 Peter married Margaret Burkey, daughter of Peter Burkey and Mary Magdaline Sipp, on 13 March 1857 at Audrain County, Missouri, in a ceremony performed by Reverend Benjamin Owings.8 Peter died on 4 April 1902 at age 76 years, 9 months and 9 days at Audrain County, Missouri.3 He was buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.3
     

Peter immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1844, sailing on the Rubicon.9

Peter Burkey was named as an heir in the will of Peter Burkey on 17 November 1859 at Audrain County, Missouri.4

     Peter Burkey was born circa 1788 at Germany.1 Peter married Barbara Wick.1 Peter died before March 1860 at Audrain County, Missouri.2
     

Peter immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1844. He arrived at the port of New Orleans, and went to Audrain County, Missouri.3,4

Peter Burkey became a citizen of the United States. His country of allegiance had previously been Germany.4

The seventh United States census was taken in 1850. Peter was enumerated as "Peter Berkey", head of a household at Audrain County, Missouri. His given age was 62 and his given place of birth was Germany. He was a farmer, and the value of his farm was $1,300. Also enumerated in his household were Barbara Burkey, Andrew Burkey, Anthony Burkey, Sibella Burkey and Magdaline Burkey.1

Peter made a will on 17 November 1859 at Audrain County, Missouri, in which he left property to Jacob Burkey, Margaret Burkey, Catherine Miller, Peter Burkey, Andrew Burkey, Magdaline Burkey, Anthony Burkey and Sibella Engle.5

The estate of Peter Burkey was admitted for probate on 8 March 1860 at Audrain County Court, Audrain County, Missouri. Following is a transcription of the record of probate by the Audrain County Court. "This day came Andrew Burkey and presented for probate an instrument purporting to be the last will and testament of Peter Burkey and the subscribing witness thereto George W. Tribble and John Ess, appearing before me and being duly sworn testified due form of law to the execution of said will, (Illegible)...were then granted to the said Andrew Burkey as executor of the last will of Peter Burkey as aforesaid upon his entering into Bond as the law directs. Attest M. T. Duncan, clerk."6
