     Henry C. Shields was born on 20 July 1840 at Warren County, Kentucky.2,3 He married first Mary Johnson on 11 January 1866 at Fayette, Howard County, Missouri.4 Henry C. Shields married second Parlee Shields, daughter of Thomas Shields and Frances Johnson, on 21 March 1878 at Fayette, Howard County, Missouri.5 Henry died on 27 December 1927 at age 87 years, 5 months and 7 days at Richmond Township, Howard County, Missouri.6 He was buried at in Fayette, Howard County, Missouri.6
     

At the age of 35, Henry was widowed 19 May 1876 when his wife Mary died.7

The tenth United States census was taken in 1880. Henry was enumerated as "Henry C. Shields", head of a household at Richmond Township, Howard County, Missouri. His given age was 39 and his given place of birth was Kentucky. He was a married, and was a farmer. Enumerated with him was his wife, Parlee Shields. Also enumerated in his household were Minnie V. Shields and Edward Ernest Shields.1

At the age of 76, Henry was widowed 31 March 1917 when his wife Parlee died at Richmond Township, Howard County, Missouri.8
