     Francis Shields was born circa 1804 at Kentucky.1 He was the son of James Shields and Nancy (?).2 Francis Shields married Lucinda Deatherage on 12 October 1826 at Fayette, Howard County, Missouri.3
     

Francis was also known as Frank Shields.4

The fifth United States Census was taken in 1830. Francis was enumerated as "Frank Shields", head of a household at Howard County, Missouri. His household consisted of one male of 20 and under 30 years of age, one female under 5, and one female of 15 and under 20.4

Francis was appointed guardian for A. S. Leaveridge on 6 November 1845 at Howard County, Missouri.5
