     Shadrack Roberts was born circa 1748.2 He married first Katherine Turner, daughter of John Turner and Sarah Williams, on 3 May 1773 at Rowan County, North Carolina.3 Shadrack Roberts married second Elenor Roberts in 1785 at Rowan County, North Carolina.1
     

Shadrack was widowed before 1785 when his wife Katherine Turner died.4

     Susan Ann Roberts was born on 24 December 1837 at South Carolina.7,8 She was the daughter of Philip Roberts and Mary Ann Evans.4,5,6 Susan Ann Roberts married Thomas Freeman, son of Levi Freeman and Amy (?), at South Carolina.9,10,11,12 Susan died on 2 July 1921 at age 83 years, 6 months and 8 days at Richland County, South Carolina.13,7 She was buried at in Browns Chapel, Richland County, South Carolina.7

The eighth United States census was taken in 1860. Susan was enumerated as "Ann Roberts", in the household of Mary Ann Roberts at Richland District, South Carolina. Her given age was 21.5

The tenth United States census was taken in 1880. Susan was enumerated in the household of Thomas Freeman as his wife, "Susan A. Freeman", at Center Township, at Richland County, South Carolina. Her given age was 42 and her given place of birth was South Carolina.9

Susan acquired a tract of land containing two hundred eighty one and 1/2 acres Fairfield County, South Carolina from W. J. Johnson 1886 The land was bounded on the north by lands formerly belonging to H. C. Davis, south by lands of Nancy M. McQuatters, east by lands of Simon R. Jones, N. M. McQuatters and est. Johnson, west by W. J. Johnson. The price of the land was $2.000.14

Susan acquired a tract of land about two miles south of Ridgeway and containing two hundred and eighty acres Fairfield County, South Carolina from Walter M. Johnson 30 August 1886 This land was willed to Walter M. Johnson, having been a portion of his father's estate. The tract was bounded on the north by land belonging to Henry Davis, on the east by lands belonging to Ann Freeman, on the south by lands belonging to Mrs. Mary McCale?, and on the west by the lands of D. Campbell. The price of the land was $1,200.15

The thirteenth United States census was taken in 1910. Susan was enumerated in the household of Thomas Freeman as his wife, "Annie Freeman", at Center Township, at Richland County, South Carolina. Her given age was 64 and her given place of birth was South Carolina. She had been married for 36 years and was the mother of three children, two of whom were living.10

The fourteenth United States census was taken in 1920. Susan was enumerated as "Ann Freeman", head of a household at Browns Chapel, Richland County, South Carolina. Her given age was 83 and her given place of birth was South Carolina. She was married, and was a farmer on a general farm which she owned. Enumerated with her was her husband, Thomas Freeman. Also enumerated in her household were Marvin Freeman and Eva Freeman.16

Susan made a will 6 June 1921 Richland County, South Carolina. Her will was filed July 19, 1921. The fiduciary was Rufus Freeman.17 (Click on the icon to see the will transcript.).17
