8 Absolom began military service at the age of 16, when he enlisted as a Private at Culpeper County in 1776 at
Virginia. He served in Captain Jacob Valentine's Company in the Second Virginia Regiment. He was in the battles of Monmouth and Stony Point, and in the Siege of Yorktown where he served under General George Washington. He was later discharged due to ill health. His Revolutionary War Bounty Land Warrant states that he served three years as a Corporal.
9 Absolom moved to Amherst County, Virginia from New Kent County, Virginia in 1782.

Absolom moved to Lincoln County, Virginia from Amherst County, Virginia circa 1790. This section of Lincoln County became Garrard County in 1796.

His household consisted of four free white males of 16 and under 26, one male of 45 and upwards, two females of 16 and under 26, and one female of 26 and under 45.
1 Absolom applied for a pension on 20 March 1830 at
Garrard County, Kentucky. His pension was approved under the act of May 15, 1828. The pension began May 5, 1832 and was $80 a year.
4 Absolom made a will at
Garrard County, Kentucky. His will was recorded 24 February 1833.
