     Absolom Pollard was born on 1 January 1760 at New Kent County, Virginia.2 He was the son of James Pollard and Susannah (?).2,3 Absolom Pollard married Leanna Banks, daughter of Linn Banks and Sarah Proctor, on 12 February 1782 at Amherst County, Virginia.4,5 Absolom died on 29 August 1832 at age 72 years, 7 months and 28 days at Lancaster, Garrard County, Kentucky.6,7 He was buried at in Garrard County, Kentucky.8
     

Absolom began military service at the age of 16, when he enlisted as a Private at Culpeper County in 1776 at Virginia. He served in Captain Jacob Valentine's Company in the Second Virginia Regiment. He was in the battles of Monmouth and Stony Point, and in the Siege of Yorktown where he served under General George Washington. He was later discharged due to ill health. His Revolutionary War Bounty Land Warrant states that he served three years as a Corporal.9

Absolom moved to Amherst County, Virginia from New Kent County, Virginia in 1782.10

A warrant for 200 acres was issued to Absolom Pollard at Virginia on 1 July 1784.9 (Click on the icon to see the image.).11

Absolom moved to Lincoln County, Virginia from Amherst County, Virginia circa 1790. This section of Lincoln County became Garrard County in 1796.12

Absolom appeared on the tax list of 1791 at Kentucky as "Absolom Pollard".13

His household consisted of two males under 10, one male of 10 and under 15, two males of 16 and under 25, one male of 45 and over, two females of 10 and under 15, three females of 16 and under 25, and one female of 26 and under 45.16

The fourth United States Census was taken in 1820. Absolom was enumerated as "Absalom Pollard", head of a household at Garrard County, Kentucky. His household consisted of four free white males of 16 and under 26, one male of 45 and upwards, two females of 16 and under 26, and one female of 26 and under 45.1

Absolom applied for a pension on 20 March 1830 at Garrard County, Kentucky. His pension was approved under the act of May 15, 1828. The pension began May 5, 1832 and was $80 a year.4

Absolom made a will at Garrard County, Kentucky. His will was recorded 24 February 1833.17

     Absolom Pollard was born between 1799 and 1800 at Kentucky.3 He was the son of Absolom Pollard and Leanna Banks.2 Absolom Pollard married first Elizabeth Pope on 27 December 1824 at Lincoln County, Kentucky.4 Absolom Pollard married second Winefred Webb between 1850 and 1853 at Kentucky.5 Absolom died on 5 December 1864 at Garrard County, Kentucky.1 He was buried at in Lancaster, Garrard County, Kentucky.1

     Absolom D. Pollard was born on 8 June 1833 at Missouri.2,4 He was the son of Reuben Pollard and Rebecca Brink.3,1 Absolom died on 11 June 1907 at age 74 years and 3 days at Missouri.5 He was buried at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.6
     

Absolom was also known as Bob Pollard.2

The seventh United States census was taken in 1850. Absolom was enumerated as "Absalom Pollard", in the household of Reuben Pollard at Boone County, Missouri. His given age was 16 and his given place of birth was Missouri. He attended school in the current year, and he was a farmer.3

The eighth United States census was taken in 1860. Absolom was enumerated as "Absalom Pollard", in the household of Reuben Pollard at Boone County, Missouri. His given age was 24, and he was a carpenter.1

Absolom enrolled for the draft in 1863 at Missouri.7

The tenth United States census was taken in 1880. Absolom was enumerated in the household of John Pollard as his brother, "Absolum Pollard", at Union Township, at Monroe County, Missouri. His given age was 46 and his given place of birth was Kentucky. He was single, and he was a carpenter.10

Bob Pollard and his brother Six helped to build Mt. Pisgah Church. Following is a transcription of an article about the construction of this church. "In 1849 the first church was built and in 1884, it was sold and the present edifice was built, mainly by Bob and Six Pollard at a cost of $1,700. An additional 2 acres were added to the property for cemetery purposes. A unique feature of this church building was the method of improving the acoustics of the auditorium. The Pollard boys bored holes in the ceiling and took empty pint beer bottles, uncorked them and stuck them through the holes with the open ends down. This 'took the ring out of the speaker's voice and was just a contrivance of the Pollard boys especially for that purpose,', so stated Frank Owings, clerk of the church for 50 years in 1955. "There were three rows of bottles for a total of forty-two in the ceiling.11

Absolom made a will on 4 September 1900 at Boone County, Missouri, in which he left property to Jackson B. Pollard . His will was proved on June 20, 1907.12

His obituary appeared on 13 June 1907 in the newspaper ""Sturgeon Missouri Leader" at Sturgeon, Boone County, Missouri. Jackson B. Pollard and James Perry Pollard were named as survivors.13 (Click on the icon to see the image.).
