     Ephraim M. Young was born on 21 March 1832 at Kentucky.3,4,5 He was the son of John Young and Elizabeth Turner.3,1,2 Ephraim M. married Lucretia Shields, daughter of Thomas Shields and Frances Johnson, at Missouri.2 Ephraim died on 27 July 1912 at age 80 years, 4 months and 6 days at 915 N. The eighth United States census was taken in 1860. Ephraim was enumerated as "E. M. Young", head of a household at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri. His given age was 28 and his given place of birth was Kentucky. He was a farmer. The value of his real estate was $3,400 and the value of his personal estate was $2,000. Also enumerated in his household were Lucretia Young, John Thomas Young, Elizabeth F. Young and Elizabeth Young.2

The tenth United States census was taken in 1880. Ephraim was enumerated as "Ehrium Young", head of a household at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri. His given age was 47 and his given place of birth was Kentucky. He was married, and he was a farmer. Enumerated with him was his wife, Lucretia Young. Also enumerated in his household were John Thomas Young, Nannie B. Young, Dora Young, Benjamin J. Young, Minnie L. Young, Katie Young and Eva Young.7

Ephraim became a Baptist preacher, after many years of farming. He did not have a congregation, and he traveled to preach, riding on horseback.

The twelfth United States census was taken in 1900. Ephraim was enumerated as "Benjamin Young", head of a household at 915 N. Ault Street, Moberly, Randolph County, Missouri. His given age was 67, and he was said to have been born in Kentucky in September 1832. He had been married for 44 years. He was a preacher, and he owned his home. (From the family relationships and ages, it is clearly Ephraim who was enumerated, but his son's name was recorded as his) . Enumerated with him was his wife, Lucretia Young. Also enumerated in his household were Dora Young and Benjamin J. Young.8

The thirteenth United States census was taken in 1910. Ephraim was enumerated as "Ephraim Young", head of a household at 915 N. Ault Street, Moberly, Randolph County, Missouri. His given age was 78 and his given place of birth was Kentucky. He had nine children, and six of them were living. He was a widower, and was a preacher. He owned his home. Also enumerated in his household were Benjamin J. Young and Minnie L. Young.9

     John Young was born on 8 July 1785 at Virginia.5,6,7 Conflicting evidence places his birth at South Carolina.8,9 He was the son of John Young.4 John married Elizabeth Turner, daughter of John Turner and Tabitha Mobley, on 5 March 1812 at Warren County, Kentucky.10,11 John died on 28 October 1852 at age 67 years, 3 months and 20 days at Audrain County, Missouri.12 He was buried at Macedonia Cemetery in Audrain County, Missouri.12
     

John and Elizabeth Turner obtained a marriage bond in 1812. John Young signed the bond as surety with John. John Young was over 21, and consent for Elizabeth Turner was given by her father, John Turner.13

The fourth United States Census was taken in 1820. John was enumerated as "John Young", head of a household at Simpson County, Kentucky. His household consisted of two free white males under 10 years of age, one free white male of 26 and under 45, two free white females under 10 years of age, and one free white female of 26 and under 45.1

The fifth United States Census was taken in 1830. John was enumerated as "John Young", head of a household at Simpson County, Kentucky. His household consisted of one male under 5 years of age, two males of 5 and under 10 years, one male of 10 and under 15, one male of 15 and under 20, one male of 20 and under 30, one male of 40 and under 50, one female of 10 and under 15, one female of 15 and under 20, and one female of 30 and under 40.14

John moved to Audrain County, Missouri from Simpson County, Kentucky in 1837.15

The sixth United States Census was taken in 1840. John was enumerated as "John Young", head of a household at Audrain County, Missouri. His household consisted of one male of 5 and under 10 years of age, one male of 10 and under 15, one male of 15 and under 20, one male of 50 and under 60, and one female of 30 and under 40.2
