     James A. Thompson was born in July 1867 at Missouri.1 James A. married Alice Haley between 1895 and 1896 at Missouri.1,2
     

James was also known as Jim Thompson.3

The twelfth United States census was taken in 1900. James was enumerated as "James A. Thompson", head of a household at Union Township, Monroe County, Missouri. His given age was 32, and he was said to have been born in Missouri in July 1867. He had been married for 5 years, and was a farmer on a farm which was mortgaged. Enumerated with him was his wife, Alice Thompson. Also enumerated in his household was Opal Thompson.1

The thirteenth United States census was taken in 1910. James was enumerated as "James A. Thompson", head of a household at Union Township, Monroe County, Missouri. His given age was 41 and his given place of birth was Missouri. He had been married for 14 years, and was a farmer on a general farm which was mortgaged. Enumerated with him was his wife, Alice Thompson. Also enumerated in his household were Opal Thompson and Ottis Thompson.2

     Opal Thompson was born on 29 May 1897 at Monroe County, Missouri.4,5 She was the daughter of James A. Thompson and Alice Haley.1,2,3,4 Opal married Frank Cox Pollard, son of Walter Harris Pollard and Mary Rovilla Cox, on 3 July 1918 at Moberly, Randolph County, Missouri. The couple was married by T. Herison.1,6,4 Opal died on 18 May 1975 at age 77 years, 11 months and 19 days at St. Elizabeth Hospital, in Palmyra, Marion County, Missouri.7,4,6 She was buried on 21 May 1975 at Greenwood Cemetery in Marion County, Missouri.8,7
