     Catherine Smith was born in April 1735 at Virginia.2 Catherine married Thomas Turner, son of John Turner and Sarah Williams, on 5 May 1754.3,4 Catherine died after October 1780.5

     Reuben Smith was born in May 1751.2 He was the son of Thomas Smith and Mary Ross.1 Reuben married Sylvia Hawkins between 1773 and 1774.1 Reuben died on 22 September 1810 at age 59 years and 4 months at Greenville District, South Carolina.3 He was buried at Pelham Road, Greenville District, South Carolina.4
     

Reuben moved to what is now Union County, South Carolina from Pennsylvania before 1776.5

Reuben moved to Greenville County, South Carolina from Padgett Creek, Union County, South Carolina in 1786.5

Reuben received a grant of 40 acres of land, located midway between Brushy Creek and Rocky Creek at Roper Mountain, Greenville County, South Carolina, in 1791. Adjacent landowners were Michael Johnson, Johnathan Johnson, William Smith, Elizabeth Beale, Joseph Woodall, Silas Brock, and Jacob Williams.6

Sarah A. Smith1,2

     Sarah A. Smith was born on 27 June 1836 at Missouri.2,3,4 Conflicting evidence places her birth in June 1835 at Missouri.5 Sarah A. married Andrew Burkey, son of Peter Burkey and Barbara Wick, on 28 December 1854 at Audrain County, Missouri, in a ceremony performed by Reverend Benjamin Owings.6 Sarah died on 29 May 1911 at age 74 years, 11 months and 2 days at Missouri.2,3 (Click on the icon to see the image.). She was buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.3

The ninth United States census was taken in 1870. Sarah was enumerated as "Sarah Burkey", in the household of Andrew Burkey at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri. Her given age was 35 and her given place of birth was Missouri.8

The tenth United States census was taken in 1880. Sarah was enumerated in the household of Andrew Burkey as his wife, "Sarah Burkey", at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri. Her given age was 44 and her given place of birth was Missouri.9

The twelfth United States census was taken in 1900. Sarah was enumerated in the household of Andrew Burkey as his wife, "Sarah Burkey", at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri. Her given age was 64, and she was said to have been born in Missouri in June 1835. She had been married 46 years and was the mother of ten children six of whom were living.5

The thirteenth United States census was taken in 1910. Sarah was enumerated in the household of Andrew Burkey as "Sarah A. Burkey", at Sturgeon, Boone County, Missouri. Her given age was 74 and her given place of birth was Missouri. She had been married for 60 years, and was the mother of 6 children who were living. She could read and write.10

Sarah was widowed on 21 September 1910 when her husband Andrew died at Sturgeon, Boone County, Missouri.11

The cause of Sarah's death was bronchitis.
