     Walter Harris Pollard was born on 24 December 1854 at Missouri.2,5,6 Conflicting evidence places his birth on 25 December 1854 at Boone County, Missouri.1 He was the son of John Pollard and Charlotte Elizabeth Turner.1,2,3,4 Walter Harris married Mary Rovilla Cox, daughter of Louis W. Cox and Eliza P. Fletcher, on 19 December 1882 at Lafayette County, Missouri, in a ceremony performed by Rev. C. S. Lewis. The couple was married at the bride's home near Dover.7 Walter died on 23 July 1918 at age 63 years, 6 months and 29 days at Middle Grove, Monroe County, Missouri.2,7 He was buried at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.2,7,8
     

The eighth United States census was taken in 1860. Walter was enumerated as "Walter H. Pollard", in the household of John Pollard at Rocky Fork Township, Boone County, Missouri. His given age was 4 and his given place of birth was Missouri.9

The ninth United States census was taken in 1870. Walter was enumerated as "Walter Pollard", in the household of John Pollard at Union Township, Middle Grove, Monroe County, Missouri. His given age was 15 and his given place of birth was Missouri. He was a farm laborer and he attended school.10

Also enumerated in his household were Ellis Garrison Pollard, Bruce Pollard, Gail Winton Pollard Sr., Frank Cox Pollard, Belle Pollard and Mary Turner Pollard.11

The cause of Walter's death was "acute dilutation of heart following chronic myocarditis".2

His obituary appeared on 25 July 1918 in the newspaper "The Chronicle" at Clark, Randolph County, Missouri. Mary Rovilla Pollard, Charles Leonidas Pollard, Ellis Garrison Pollard, Bruce Pollard, Gail Winton Pollard Sr., Ode Pollard, Frank Cox Pollard, Bessie L. Snellings, Mary Young, Belle Pollard, George Andrew Lee Pollard and Cora Winn were named as survivors.12
