Silas McDuffie Massey was enumerated on the agriculture schedule of 1860 at Anderson District, South Carolina, as "McDuffy Massey", the owner, agent or manager of a farm. He owned 80 acres of improved land, and 1,300 acres of unimproved land. The cash value of his farm was $6,000. He owned $500 worth of farm implements. Silas appeared on the tax list of 1885 at Garvin Township, Anderson County, South Carolina, as "Silas Massey". His address was listed as Pendleton. His personal property was valued at $100 and his real property was valued at $100. He had one cow valued at $15 and one dog valued at $1.⁷

     Thomas Massey was born in 1816 at Anderson District, South Carolina.¹ He was the son of Silas Massey and Nancy (?).¹

     William Louis Massey was born on 3 March 1818 at Anderson District, South Carolina.¹ He was the son of Silas Massey and Nancy (?).¹ William died on 10 January 1906 at age 87 years, 10 months and 7 days at Winston County, Mississippi.¹

     Ann Maupin may have been born circa 1800, based on the dates of other known events in her life. Ann married first Jesse Turner, son of John Turner and Jane Cooper, on 11 January 1820 at Howard County, Missouri.¹ Ann married second Samuel Sexton on 10 February 1831 at Boone County, Missouri.³

     Smith N. Mayfield was born on 7 August 1890.^2,1 Smith N. married Ada Vaughn, daughter of William Riley Vaughn and L. Minnie Geer.¹ Smith died on 24 February 1959 at age 68 years, 6 months and 17 days.^2,1 He was buried at Clear Spring Baptist Church Cemetery in Simpsonville, Greenville County, South Carolina.²

     Mahala McAlister was born on 23 November 1818 at Tennessee.¹ Mahala married Greenville Pollard, son of Abner Pollard and Jane Chandler, on 27 August 1837 at Monroe County, Missouri.² Mahala died on 4 September 1897 at age 78 years, 9 months and 12 days at Monroe County, Missouri.³
     

Mahala was widowed 15 September 1844 at the age of 25, when her husband Greenville Pollard died at Missouri.³

Her given age was 32 and her given place of birth was Tennessee. The value of her real estate was $300. She was not able to read or write. Also enumerated in her household were Abner Pollard and William Pollard.⁴

     Mary McClain was born circa 1883 at Audrain County, Missouri.² Mary married Walter Sames Turner, son of Enoch Turner and Margaret Jane Tolson, on 27 February 1907 at Audrain County, Missouri.¹

     Martha McDonald may have been born circa 1900, based on the dates of other known events in her life. Martha married first Mack Bridwell. Martha married second Louis Ephraim Young, son of John Thomas Young and Mary Magdaline Burkey, after 1930.

     Lucy Ann McFadin was born on 19 December 1851 at Simpson County, Kentucky.¹ Lucy Ann married John Harrison Young, son of Benjamin Young and Rebecca Harris Blewett, on 18 January 1883 at Simpson County, Kentucky.¹

     Hester A. McGee was born circa 1824 at Tennessee.² Hester A. married John Gilead Turner, son of James Turner and Elizabeth Rupe, on 9 September 1846 at Audrain County, Missouri, in a ceremony performed by Reverend Benjamin Owings.¹
