     Emma M. Jones was born on 1 October 1882 at Henderson County, North Carolina.5,6,7 She was the daughter of Steven Alexander Jones and Eliza M. (?).3 Emma M. married James Herbert Bell, son of William C. Bell and Jeannettia Vaughn, on 25 December 1904 at South Carolina.8 Emma died on 22 November 1965 at age 83 years, 1 month and 21 days at Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina.5 (Click on the icon to see the image.). Emma was enumerated in the household of James Herbert Bell as his wife, "Emma Bell", at 1257 E Whitner, Anderson, Anderson County, South Carolina. Her given age was 48 and her given place of birth was North Carolina. She was married at the age of 22.4

Emma was widowed 27 June 1954 at the age of 71, when her husband Reverend James Herbert Bell died at Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina.12,8

Her obituary appeared on 23 November 1965 in the newspaper "The Charleston Evening Post" at Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina. Geneva Freeman and Harry P. Jones were named as survivors.6 (Click on the icon to see the image.).

     James Jones was born circa 1792 at Virginia.2 James married Patsy Crosswhite, daughter of William Crosswhite and Mary Lampton, on 24 November 1824 at Clark County, Kentucky.4 James died on 2 September 1864 at Missouri.3 He was buried at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri.3

John N. Jones1

     John N. Jones was born on 3 December 1860 at South Carolina.2,3 John N. married Rebecca Freeman, daughter of Isaac Freeman and Rebecca (?), circa 1895 at South Carolina.1
     

The thirteenth United States census was taken in 1910. John was enumerated as "John N. Jones", head of a household at Upper Township, Richland County, South Carolina. His given age was 50 and his given place of birth was South Carolina. He had been married for 15 years, and this was his first marriage. He was a farmer on a general farm which was mortgaged. Enumerated with him was his wife, Nancy Jones. Also enumerated in his household was Rebecca Freeman.1

J. N. Jones witnessed a deed conveying 23 2/10 acres Richland County, South Carolina from Rebecca Freeman to Nancy Jones 8 January 1911. The land adjoined that of Southern Railway, South Carolina State Hospital, Sylvester Stark and Buetman[?] Legrand.4
