     Barbara E. Hoffman was born in November 1859 at Missouri.2 Barbara E. married George Adams Ess, son of Henry Ess and Catharine Schnider, on 7 September 1886 at Audrain County, Missouri. The couple was married by the Rev. P. T. Gentry.3,4 Barbara died in 1941 at age 81 years at Missouri.5 She was buried at Macedonia Cemetery in Audrain County, Missouri.5
     

Barbara was widowed in 1899 when her husband George died at Missouri.5,6

     John Hoffman was born on 3 February 1823 at Germany.3,4 John married Catherine Burkey, daughter of Peter Burkey and Mary Magdaline Sipp, on 30 November 1858 at Audrain County, Missouri. The couple was married by J. A. Berry.5,1,2 John died on 23 June 1916 at age 93 years, 4 months and 20 days at Missouri.3 He was buried at Macedonia Cemetery in Audrain County, Missouri.3
     

John immigrated to the United States from Darmstadt. He immigrated just before the Civil War.6
