     Valentine Hoffman was born on 24 June 1831 at Hesse-Darmstadt.2,3 Valentine married Elenora Ess, daughter of Henry Ess and Catharine Schnider, on 18 February 1869 at Monroe County, Missouri.4 Valentine died on 28 June 1905 at age 74 years and 4 days at Missouri.2 He was buried at Macedonia Cemetery in Audrain County, Missouri.2
     

The ninth United States census was taken in 1870. Valentine was enumerated as "Valentine Hoffman", in the household of George Adams Ess at Middle Grove, Monroe County, Missouri. His given age was 38 and his given place of birth was Hesse Darmstadt. He was a farm laborer, and the value of his real estate was $900.1

The tenth United States census was taken in 1880. Valentine was enumerated in the household of George Adams Ess as his brother-in-law, "V. Hoffman", at Union Township, Monroe County, Missouri. His given age was 48 and his given place of birth was Germany. He was married, and was a farmer.5

The twelfth United States census was taken in 1900. Valentine was enumerated as "Vol Hauffman", head of a household at Saling Township, Audrain County, Missouri. His given age was 68, and he was said to have been born in Germany in June 1831. He was said to have immigrated to the United States in 1852, and he was a naturalized citizen. He had been married 41 years, and had lived in the United States for 48 years. He was a farmer and he owned his farm. Enumerated with him was his wife, Elenora Hoffman. Also enumerated in his household was William E. Hoffman.6

Victoria Hoffman1

     Victoria Hoffman was born on 7 October 1892 at Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri.1 Victoria married Glenn Tucker Pollard, son of John Reuben Pollard and David Ella Tucker, on 11 October 1922 at Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri.2 Victoria died on 20 December 1986 at age 94 years, 2 months and 13 days at Falls Church, Fairfax County, Virginia.1
     

Victoria was widowed 27 February 1976 at the age of 83, when her husband Glenn Tucker Pollard died at Columbia, Boone County, Missouri.1
