Following is a transcription of the will of Susan Ann Freeman.
I, Susan Ann Freeman, of Richland County, South Carolina, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, but realizing the uncertainty of human life, do hereby make, publish, and dictate the following as and for my last will and testament, that is to say:
Item 1. I desire all my just debts to be paid by my Executor or Executors of my estate.
Item 2. My homestead tract of land in Richland County, containing about eight hundred and fifty acres, situate about nine miles from Columbia, and conveyed to me in part by Sarah Roberts and E. D. Gilmore by deeds dated March 11, 1881 and January 31, 1882, and recorded in Clerk's Office in Richland County in Book "N" page 332 and Book "O" page 496, I give and devise to my husband, Thomas Freeman, for and during the term of his natural life, and from and after his death, I give and devise the said tract of land to my son, Marvin Freeman, his heirs and assigns forever.
Item 3. To my son Rufus Freeman, I give and devise my tract of land in Fairfield County, containing about five hundred and sixty acres, conveyed to me by William J. Johnson and Walter M. Johnson in deeds dated in 1886, and recorded in Clerk's Office in said County in book "AL" pages 199 and 203. To have and to hold the said tract of land to him, his heirs and assigns forever.
Item 4. My tract of land in Richland County, containing about three hundred and seventy acres, and conveyed to me by John E. Bacon by deed dated February 26, 1896, and recorded in Clerk's Office in said County in Book "AA" page 22, I give and devise to my sons Edmund Roberts and Rufus Freeman in equal shares to them, their heirs and assigns forever.
Item 5. All my household goods, live stock and other personal property after the payment of my debts, I give and bequeath to my sons Edmund Roberts and Marvin Freeman, equally to be divided between them.
Item 6. I hereby appoint my sons Edmund Roberts, Rufus Freeman, and Marvin Freeman Executors of this my last will and testament.
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand nine hundred and nineteen, to this my last Will and testament, consisting of two type-written pages.

I do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will with codicil thereto of the within named Susan Ann Freeman deceased so far as I know or believe, and that I will well and truly execute the same by paying first the debts and then the legacies contained in the said Will, as far as her goods and chattel will thereunto extend and the law charge me, and I will make a true and perfect inventory of all such goods and chattels; So help me God.

Transcription of the codicil to Susan Ann Freeman's will
I Susan Ann freeman hereby declare this to be a codicil to my last Will and testament which is dated Feb 19, 1919.
In Item two of said will I devised to my husband for life a certain tract of land containing 850 acres for life and after death to my son Marvin Freeman, now since said Will was made I have sold said tract of land, and my son Marvin Freeman having died I hereby revoke said item and give and devise the sum of $10,000 to my son Rufus Freeman in trust to be invested by him and to pay over the income therefrom to my Husband during his natural life, and after his death, I give and devise said $10,000 to my son, Rufus Freeman.
In item four of said Will I devised a tract of land containing three hundred seventy five acres to Edmund Roberts and Rufus Freeman, but a portion of same having been sold by me since said Will was made and my son Edmund Roberts having died I hereby revoke said item, and give and devise the remaining portion of said tract of land to my son Rufus Freeman forever.
In item five of said Will I devised all my personal property to Edmund Roberts and Marvin Freeman, but since said will was made my two sons Edmund Roberts and Marvin Freeman having died, I revoke said item and give to Grandchildren, Dessie Roberts, Edmund Roberts and Minnie Roberts being children of Edmund Roberts each the sum of $1000.00 and direct that my executor pay said sum to them. All the remainder of my property real and personal and money I give and devise to my son Rufus Freeman forever.
I hereby appoint my son Rufus Freeman the Executory of my will. Witness my hand and seal this sixth day of June, 1921.
